Administrative Experience




This is a list of administrative tasks that I completed beginning in August 2012. As I complete new tasks, I add them to the list.

 Standard 1: Supporting School Vision

ü  School district vision SWOT analysis and comparison: Pearland ISD and Houston ISD

ü  Conducted a Staff Development for New Teachers on school policies and procedures

ü  Solicited feedback from New Teacher training participants for strengths & weakness of presentation

ü  Observed a Principal Cabinet meeting and gained insight on collaborative decision making

ü  Conducted survey on collaborative decision making and discussed findings with principal


Standard 2: Creating a Positive School Culture

ü  Researched and evaluated the method for curriculum evaluation

ü  Interviewed counselor and discussed ways to reduce schedule changes

ü  Planned and coordinated the implementation of new curriculum tool: Springboard

ü  Surveyed teachers to illicit recommendations for staff development improvement

ü  Mentored new teachers in a discipline conference with student and parents

ü  Led staff development to analyze previous year’s STAAR data and develop intervention plans

 Standard 3: Managing the Organization

ü  Observed discipline clerk to assess technology needs and made recommendations

ü  Interview school attendance officer to discuss laws, finance, and operations.

ü  Analyzed the school budget for spending directly related to student instruction

ü  Coordinated a mock interview session with intern team at UHCL

 Standard 4: Collaborating with Families and Other Community Members

ü  Interviewed the Director of Communicated for Pearland ISD to elicit strategies for effective communication to and from the community

ü  Researched social agencies that are available to help and support students, faculty, and administration

ü  Interviewed the Outreach Intervention Coordinator for Pearland ISD to understand the needs of the clients served and how they meet those needs
 
Standard 5: Acting with Integrity
ü  Analyzed a principal job description for Pearland ISD and evaluated  the correlation between the appraisal tool

ü  Met with the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary for Pearland ISD to discuss the degree of subjectivity in evaluating principals

ü  Interviewed a group of school staff administrative assistants to gain perspective on examples of ethical and unethical behavior of teachers

ü  Chose from a list of interpersonal skills to develop over the year: avoids interrupting others who are speaking , accepts criticism, when leading meetings acknowledges feelings and mood relationships within the group, encourages consideration of varying perspectives

Standard 6: Understanding the Larger Context

ü  Reviewed sections D, E, and F of the school board policy online and interviewed the Assistant Superintendent of secondary to discuss the process for creating and updating the manual. Also discussed major areas that affect school principals.

ü  Researched current issues that affect teaching and learning and assessed the degree of importance and urgency for each issue.

ü  Created a professional development plan that included deficiencies in the various learning areas.
